Design Challenge:
The biggest challenge behind this company was designing it as a “Phase 1” beginner company. It was important for them to keep the price of packaging low. They wanted to make sure that the brand feels homemade, natural, and captures the classic Duluth feel through imagery.
 

Design Solution:
After purchasing cheap materials, I grabbed my camera and began to photograph the amazing scenery seen in Duluth. I made sure to wake up extra early to capture the sunrise and then later in the morning. To capture the homemade feel, I hand lettered the fonts, scanned them, and then manipulated them in the computer to clean them up. I wanted to stay away from vectored images and let the photography really speak for the city. I developed a line with six scents that all have clever names relating to the city. Along with the handmade feel, I challenged myself to use minimal colors, and I believe I successfully achieved the results the company was intending.
